Today we went to compass point to collect my loots from spree. At the same time i got to go to metro to help sis buy her crocs shoe as i have 20% voucher for my birthday month. Unfortunately, there isn't a size for her. Just as i turn around, i couldn't find Ryann. He was walking around the mall with hubby just now. No signs of Ryann along the walkway. As i was looking for them, i spotted both of them on the escalator! Ryann took the escalator for his first time standing and not being carried. Hubby said Ryann was not scared at all and was walking towards the escalator on his own. We went a number of places to look for Ryann's shoe too but we couldn't find any that was suitable.
By the time we reached home, it was already long pass his nap time and he was hungry and sleepy. Fed him milk first then let him sleep. He didn't sleep well with his blocked nose. Just 2 hours. Cook mee sua for him but he only had half. No appetite. Could be due to his sore throat too.
We left the house early to causeway point in search for his shoe. Brought Hubby a pair of Doc Martens and help sis with her crocs. We still couldn't find any shoe for Ryann.
Went to Grand Ma house for Buffet dinner. Fed Ryann with porridge and he finished them all. Must be hungry. Hubby's cousin was there with her 11 months old son too. Her baby is so adorable with big eyes, look really like daddy. Then that uncle commented again that her baby not even 1 year old already eat all anything already, yours 14 months already still cannot eat, so ke lian. That really pissed me off man. I told him straight at his face in front of all the elders that i stand firmly on my believes. No outside food - oily, high in sugar, high in sodium or seasoned food for Ryann until 18 months. Then he still go on saying Ryann so poor thing. Which pulled my trigger and i started telling him off by saying Ryann didn't cry or complain that he is not being fed well and since he never eat before, how would he know about all those adult food?
I seriously hate it when he every time mention about letting Ryann eat outside food. Don't he understand the fact that outside food is full of oil, salt and high in sugar content that is UNHEALTHY for the child. Don't he understand that Ryann have an allergic back ground which can be easily triggered by food? Don't he understand that RYANN'S DOC SAY NO OUTSIDE FOOD UNTIL 18 MONTHS! I am seriously pissed off. 1 more time he going to step on my 'tail', i am going to give him a piece of my mind.
My believes are back up by medical advices and nutritional facts. I didn't study nutrition for nothing. The earlier you intro oily, sugary or salty food to a baby, the possibility of your child's diet to be filled with those food would be much higher. This can easily lead to childhood obesity and hyper activeness. To encourage our little one to appreciate and accept natural flavours, i do not add seasoning while preparing their food or drinks.
Adults' taste buds and children's taste bud are certainly different. What we may taste like tasteless may be tasty for a child already. As we tried seasoned food before, our taste bud will be used to the food taste be it salty or sweet or spicy, thus we should never compare our taste with theirs. Just for example, I don't take spicy food as i am allergic to a certain type of spice. My mum said it is not spicy at all. But to me it is already very spicy because my taste palate is not used to such stimulation. For my mum, she is already used to eating spices, thus it seems nothing to her.
I do not mean that their parenting style are wrong, but i do expect a little respect that i do have my own parenting style to handle my own child. And he should not say Ryann is so poor thing in front of him as it may cause adverse effects on a child's psychological aspects.
Regardless of what kind of parenting style different people adapts, i believe no parents would want to cause any harm to their child. Thus we should respect each others believes and no expecting people to change to suit your believes. I hope one day he get my message across.
STOP ASKING ME TO FEED RYANN WITH OUTSIDE FOOD AND SAY RYANN IS SO KE LIAN IN FRONT OF HIM!

Eh, hope you didn't get too upset over our MSN conversation last night. Don't get mistaken that I am trying to change your belief hor ... in case you get the wrong idea. Like I said, it all boils down to different beliefs ... you share yours and I share mine ... do what you think is best for your baby and respect each other's beliefs yah? Nobody can force you to accept another's belief. =)
no lah, not talking abt you =p
is that irritating uncle who is getting on nerves.
phoebe, i aso dont allow ben to try outside food unless i am pretty sure the contents of the condiments are very very low. e.g. chwee kueh without the cai poh. =D
so far, no one complained he is SMALL SIZED! (how can he be? LOL) my mum did say how come he still cannot eat our food though and always comment he has no flesh, so skinny. I simply told her no, he cannot have and she aso very nicely left it at that. I caught her trying to give ben some food behind my back and i would scold her too. but come to think of it, she is trying to fatten ben only. but ben not skinny right? =P
Hi nancy,
I totally agree with you. I also got give chwee kuah with no cai poh or chee cheong fan with no sauce and oil. Those i still can accept. as long no seasoning oil, sugar and salt.
For me, my side of family all have this same believes too.
No la, Ben where got skinny. He is tall and handsome la. Anyway, Chubby doesnt mean healthy. I guess you work in a school. You would most likely know whether childhood obesity is serious or in a rising trend or not.
smiles. I just dun wan ben to be like me gua. kakakakak. so must watch what he eats very closely. somemore, ben is extremely non-fussy when it comes to food. he eats almost everything! voracious eater, my MIl calls him. =D
you have a good case coz Ryann is prone to allergies which can be triggered from anything, esp food.
shawn doesnt have. so i am relaxed over "kindhearted" pple feeding him outside food.
everyone is different. but i guess not worth to spoil relationships over this...
