This is the first time I am going for an official meet the parents’ session. Mrs. Koh have requested to see me so that she can update me on Ryann's progress.
Ryann must be feeling surprised that all 3 of us (mum, hubby and myself) are bringing him to school today. As usual, he started crying as we approach the door. He refuses to let go and kept clinging on to me. It all continues until I hand him over to Mrs. Koh. He ran inside himself and sat down on the mat. Crying stops from there.
We walk over to the back of the center to peek through he window. Ryann was coping fine, playing with toys. We tried to hide and not let him see us. He seems to be coping fine.
Mrs. Koh mentioned that he is getting better in class already thou he doesn't really get involved with the activities some times. He will tend to show his unhappiness and anger when he doesn't get his way. She further explained that because my mum is rather loud usually and thus Ryann might be used to loud voices. In this case, by raising our voices when we want to discipline him might not work at all. We can try using our body language such as stamping our feet, hands on our hips or our facial expression to show him that what he is doing is not right.
For the past one week, Ryann always like to hide at the books corner. Mrs. Koh deliberately go against his wishes so that he will know that the teachers call the shots here. This will help Ryann identify teachers as the authority figure.
So far I am pretty happy with Mrs. Koh as I felt that she is responsible and will always update me with Ryann's progress. Hopefully Ryann will love school soon.
** When will stupid cough bugs go away? Ryann is coughing and having fever again. Sobs
